I get asked this particular question every time I share my story about traveling to Japan, “Does Japan have vending machine for everything?”
My answer is yes. They not only have vending machine for hot foods, such as pizza and burger, but other foreign items like cold underwear, suits, ties, dolls, and maid costumes that doesn’t usually belong in a vending machine.
I didn’t expect it either when I’ve visited Japan, but have gotten used to it after a while. Vending machines are literally everywhere, and they make life much more convenient. If you happen to forget your toothbrush during your travel, they have a vending machine for that as well.
According to official tourism board, Japan has at least 5.52 million vending machines, which roughly calculates to 23 machines per person.
